Early Years Qualified Educator (Certificate III)

Njernda Aboriginal Corporation is building a casual pool of Certificate III qualified Educators at Berrimba Childcare Centre, to back-fill staff when training, absent or on leave. You'll support Room Leaders to implement age-appropriate developmental programs, helping create a culturally safe environment where children and families feel supported.
n
Reporting to the Early Years Manager, you'll work alongside Room Leaders and the Berrimba Childcare Centre team, stepping in across rooms as needed.
n
Assist Room Leaders to implement an age-appropriate developmental program based on children's individual interests and needs, using the Early Years Learning Framework
n
Ensure the provision and maintenance of a rich, safe and actively supervised learning environment
n
Prepare and supervise play and learning activities, and guide positive social interactions between children
n
Record and maintain observations catering for each child's individual interests and developmental needs
n
Support the participation of children with extra needs in the program
n
Help build responsive relationships with families and specialist services to share children's learning and development
n
Assist in supporting, mentoring and supervising student placements
n
Work collaboratively with staff and management to create a culturally safe environment for families and children
n

$40.59 per hour (Children's Services Award, Level 3) + Super

- Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care
n
- First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis Certification
n
- Demonstrated experience working in an early childhood service
n
- Understanding of and respect for Aboriginal culture, and a commitment to supporting culturally secure practices for Aboriginal children and families
n
- Understanding of the National Quality Framework (NQF) and Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF)
n
- Ability to support children's physical, emotional and social wellbeing
n
- Confidence in supervising children during play, meals, rest and transitions
n
- Skill in engaging children in age-appropriate, play-based learning activities
n
- Understanding of developmental milestones in early childhood
n
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
n
- Willingness to work under the guidance of Diploma-qualified educators or the Room Leader
n
- Understanding and application of hygiene practices, including nappy changing and meal assistance
n
- Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with children and families
n
- Sound understanding of child safety principles and mandatory reporting obligations
n
- Desirable: A demonstrated interest in further study or upskilling (e.g. working towards a Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care), and the ability to contribute to educational documentation under guidance.

- Current and valid Victorian Working with Children Check
n
- National Police Check
n
- Current and valid full Victorian Driver's Licence
n
- Eligibility to work in Australia
n
- Vaccination status and pre-employment screening in line with Njernda's policies and procedures
n
