Human Resources Coordinator (Identified Position)

Echuca, VIC | Full time, 37.5 hours per week | 2-year fixed term contract

Njernda Aboriginal Corporation is seeking a Human Resources Coordinator to coordinate end-to-end HR functions and provide high-quality, proactive support to the HR department and hiring managers, spanning recruitment, onboarding, induction, employee records, workplace safety programs and employee benefits. With a focus on improving Njernda's HR processes, policies and practices, this is a 2-year fixed term contract commencing September 2026.

This is a designated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander position under a special measure in accordance with section 12 of the Equal Prospect Act 2010 (Vic).

THE ROLE
n
Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, you'll work closely with the HR team, hiring managers, payroll, finance and IT across the whole employee lifecycle.
n
n
- Assist the HR Manager to deliver Njernda's HR programs across recruitment, onboarding, induction, performance management, training and development, succession planning and exiting processes
n
- Coordinate recruitment functions including job postings, screening applications, scheduling interviews and inducting new hires
n
- Manage security and regulatory checks (police, WWCC, AHPRA) for new hires, students, volunteers, contractors and Board members, ensuring they remain valid and current
n
- Serve as a first point of contact for employees on HR matters
n
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date personnel files on the HR Management System and conduct routine audits
n
- Assist with the collection and analysis of HR data to generate reports and insights
n
- Support the development and review of HR systems, workflows, policies and procedures in line with legislative requirements

SELECTION CRITERIA — YOU MUST ADDRESS THESE

This is an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identified position. To be considered, your application must include a separate document responding to each of the numbered criteria below.

- A Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field, or significant relevant experience
n
- 2–3 years' experience in Human Resources gained at Coordinator level
n
- Understanding of best practice HR systems and processes, policies, procedures and legislation
n
- High attention to detail
n
- Demonstrated capacity to determine priorities, meet strict deadlines and balance competing demands, with the ability to work under pressure both independently and as part of a team
n
- Demonstrated sound judgement, initiative, diplomacy, tact and discretion, with proven ability to handle sensitive calls, information and materials in a confidential and appropriate manner
n
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports and documentation and work with a wide range of clients and team members
n
- Highly competent computer skills, with knowledge and experience in the Microsoft suite, databases, email and the internet
n
n
Desirable: Work experience in an Aboriginal organisation, and a working knowledge of Human Resources Management Systems.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

- Current and valid Victorian Working with Children Check
n
- National Police Check
n
- Current and valid full Victorian Driver's Licence
n
- Eligibility to work in Australia
n
- Vaccination status and pre-employment screening in line with Njernda's policies and procedures
