We’re Little Dreamers, Australia’s leading non-profit organisation working with Young Carers across the country.

A Young Carer is a young person aged 4 to 25 who provides or intends to provide care, support or assistance for a family member affected by disability, chronic or mental illness, substance use, or frail age.

Founded in 2009 by a Young Carer, we love building and delivering high quality programs that create deep and meaningful impact in the lives of young people providing care in their families. And we’re pretty good at it too.

To date, we have supported over 5,000 Young Carers, we deliver eight core programs alongside ad hoc supports, advocacy and community awareness campaigns. We have strong corporate partnership and funding relationships and have raised over $5 million to improve the quality of life for Young Carers around Australia.

We have even received recognition from Queen Elizabeth II and have been named as an internationally best practice organisation for Young Carer support.

Our team is made up of 50 incredible humans working across VIC, NSW, QLD. We are humble, hungry, kind and work hard to reach our goals. We believe in a world where every single Young Carer is supported by someone or something by 2030. Sounds fun right?!

A bit about the role:

The Volunteer Coordinator leads and manages Little Dreamers' national volunteer team, overseeing the complete volunteer lifecycle from recruitment and reference checks to rostering, day-to-day operational coordination, regular check-ins and volunteer engagement initiatives.

This role works closely with various parts of the organisation, particularly the Programs teams in VIC, NSW and QLD and brings a creative solutions-focused approach along with strong organisational skills.

Beyond internal volunteer operations,



the Volunteer Coordinator also drives national community engagement, building and sustaining referral pathways and partnerships with universities, businesses and community networks to attract and retain volunteers nationwide.

Let’s talk about you!

You bring proven experience managing a volunteer program and know how to oversee the full volunteer lifecycle from recruitment, onboarding and rostering to training, retention and recognition. Your strong organisational skills shine through in scheduling, record keeping and compliance management. You are comfortable juggling competing priorities while coordinating multiple tasks with ease.

With excellent interpersonal and communication skills, you build genuine rapport and trust across volunteers, staff and community partners, whether you're liaising with stakeholders, conducting check-ins or delivering engaging volunteer training and presentations.

You've got a demonstrated track record of building and maintaining relationships with community partners, universities and corporate volunteering programs, and you know how to create referral pathways and source volunteers through proactive outreach and engagement strategies.

what is the salary like?

This position is classified as Level 4, fixed term part time employee (22.8 hours per week) under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010.
