Job Description

Clear Cut Recruitment Aircon Brothers is seeking an experienced and reliable Sheetmetal Worker to join their team on a full-time basis fabricating, installing and maintaining ductwork and metal components for residential and commercial air conditioning and mechanical services systems. The successful candidate will work from technical drawings and specifications to produce and install high-quality sheet metal ducting and fittings, ensuring all work meets relevant Australian standards and project requirements. This is a full-time position. You will be based in Schofields, NSW, 2762 and work both at the company site and on client sites in the surrounding area as required. Salary: $75,000 - $90,000 + superannuation

Task & responsibilities

- Study blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine job, material and equipment requirements for ductwork and metal fittings.
- Mark out dimensions and cut raw sheet metal stock to size using hand shears, power shears, guillotines, or power saws.
- Shape and form sheet metal using folders, brakes, rollers and other fabrication machinery to produce ducting, flashings and fittings.
- Set up and operate fabricating machines to punch, dimple, crimp, notch, bend and straighten sheet metal.
- Join sheet metal sections and fittings by riveting, bolting, screwing, welding and soldering.
- Fit and install prefabricated ductwork, flashings and metal components on-site in accordance with plans and safety requirements.
- Smooth rough edges and welded/soldered joints, and grind, file and buff repaired or fabricated areas.
- Removing damaged sheet metal from existing products and performing repairs where required.
- Inspect completed work for accuracy of fit,



finish and compliance with specifications and Australian Standards.
- Liaise with site supervisors, installation teams and other trades to coordinate ductwork installation on residential and commercial projects.
- Maintain tools and equipment in safe working order and comply with workplace health and safety procedures.

Qualification & experience

- At least one year experience as a Sheetmetal Worker or Fabricator in a similar position is strictly required.
- Certificate III in Engineering (Fabrication Trade) or a similar qualification is desirable but not essential for applicants with additional experience as a Sheetmetal Worker or Fabricator.
- Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication techniques, standards, and safe work practices.
- Ability to read and interpret sheet metal installation and fabrication plans and technical drawings.
- Competent use of sheet metal fabrication and installation tools and equipment, with strong attention to detail and quality.
- Current driver’s licence and reliable transport to get to and from job sites.
- Physically fit.
- Strong communication skills and reliability are essential.
