This position is based at community dental clinics, also providing services at school clinics and outreach placements in rural/remote clinics. This position is suitable for an experienced and autonomous clinician.
n
Key Duties and Responsibilities
n
n
- Provide safe, client centric and culturally appropriate oral health services under minimal supervision.
n
- Ensure clinical and corporate records are maintained, including accurate documentation and statistics.
n
- Actively participate in development, implementation and evaluation of oral health promotion programmes.
n
- Provide feedback to senior staff and management on programme and clinical issues.
n
- Contribute to the achievement of work unit goals and key performance indicators.
n
- Undertake administrative duties required for the efficient operation of the service, including managing appointment schedules.
n
- Actively participate in quality improvement activities including accreditation and staff development programmes.
n
- Provide clinical/qualified supervision and/or support to students and junior staff.
n
- Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
n
- Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role‐modeling behaviour.

Selection Criteria

Essential
n
n
- Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a Dental Therapist/Oral Health Therapist and the ability to gain a radiographer's permit in the Northern Territory.
n
- Demonstrated current evidence‐based clinical practices and techniques with an ability to prioritise clinical and administration outcomes.
n
- Demonstrated pro‐active team member with a high standard of both conflict resolution and interpersonal skills.
n
- Well‐developed knowledge of Microsoft suite, patient information systems and database.
n
- Demonstrated high standard cross‐cultural awareness and an ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.
n
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in health promotion with the application of primary health care principles.
n
- Demonstrated ability to incorporate fundamental WHS and Infection Control policies and procedures into clinical practice.
n
- Current NT driver's licence or the ability to attain one and the ability to travel to remote areas by 4WD vehicle or light aircraft, for periods of a minimum of five days at a time.
n
