About this role
Senior Project Officer – Data, Analysis and Operations
- Great opportunity to join the Department of Justice and Community Safety on a fixed-term basis in Melbourne.
- Support tobacco regulation in Victoria through data analysis and reporting.
- Work closely with senior leadership on critical matters, providing support and advice oncomplex operational dataand analytics.
The Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS) provides a range of government programs and services focused on improving community safety, victim services, regulatory services and crime prevention, and building strong collaboration across the justice system.
Located in the Justice Services and Regulation (JSR) group, DJCS, Tobacco Licensing Victoria (TLV) regulates the lawful supply of tobacco products in Victoria under the Tobacco Act 1987. In Victoria, it is now an offence to sell tobacco without a licence. TLV is responsible for licensing businesses that supply tobacco products and enforcing the licensing scheme.
The Opportunity

- Collaborate with experts in regulation, licensing, compliance and enforcement.
- Work with complex data sets and process metrics, and deliver clear, concise reporting for senior leaders across Government and externally.
- Create intuitive, high-impact data dashboards that drive beneficial operational outcomes.
- Learn intricate business and technical regulatory processes and considerations.
- Identify opportunities for efficiency and regulatory alignment.
- Manage,updateandmaintainkey TLV's document management systems.
- Support TLV's executive team and operations by producing clear and concise briefs and reports on a rich assortment of TLV matters
- Completion of other required tasks as directed by theManager, Governance and Operations or TLV executives.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Demonstrated knowledgeofand experience indata analysis, ideallyin a regulatory setting.
- Advanced skills in data manipulation and the development of high-impact dashboards to transform raw data into actionable insights.
- Experienceinperformance oversight and reporting, and quality assurance processes.
- Demonstrated ability to support project coordination, including managing documentation, tracking milestones, and coordinating cross-functional inputs to meet operational deadlines.
- Experience withMicrosoft SharePoint,Power BIor similarenterprise levelreporting tools,Salesforce,AdvancedExceland a strong technical aptitude for learning new regulatory software environmentswill be highly regarded.
