Casual Peer Reviewer - Climate Vulnerability Project (Grant Support) role at Moonee Valley City Council.

Band 7 position, plus 12% superannuation (commensurate with experience). Become part of Council's Community and Corporate Planning department.

The Opportunity
n
To provide independent and subject matter expertise through a peer review of the draft Climate Vulnerability Assessment Report and associated materials developed under a grant-funded project.
n
Responsibilities
n
Peer Review of Report Content
n
Review the draft Climate Vulnerability Assessment Report "Climate Emergency Risks for Vulnerable Communities" for:
n
n
- Technical accuracy of spatial data interpretation and environmental indicators
n
- Clarity, consistency, and logical structure of report content
n
- Alignment with grant objectives and Council strategies
n
- Effectiveness of visual materials (maps, infographics, tables) in communicating findings
n
n
Constructive Feedback & Recommendations
n
n
- Provide structured, actionable feedback on report tone, structure and data presentation.
n
- Identify gaps or inconsistencies in analysis, interpretation, or literature references.
n
- Suggest enhancements to improve readability and accessibility for non-technical audiences.
n
n
Review of Supporting Materials
n
n
- Assess the relevance and quality of accompanying spatial products (e.g., maps, overlays).
n
- Ensure solid alignment between data analysis, conclusions, and literature.
n
- Confirm compliance with reporting expectations of the grant funding body.
n
n
Skills & Experience
n
n
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Urban/Regional Planning, Geography, Public Policy, or related fields.
n
- Demonstrated experience in technical review, report editing, or subject matter peer review.
n
- Familiarity with spatial data products and principles of climate risk communication.
n
- Prior experience with grant-funded projects or local government settings is highly regarded.
n
n
