You will lead the safety function across a complex mining and processing operation in North Queensland, supporting a workforce of approximately 200 personnel on an 8/6 roster. You will provide strong site-based safety leadership while strengthening existing systems, processes, governance and risk management practices.

You will work closely with operational leaders and multiple contractors, including major mining and engineering service providers, to ensure safety standards are consistently applied across the operation. You will bring structure, accountability and practical solutions to complex operational environments while working with a high level of autonomy.

This is initially a contract opportunity with a view to permanent employment. You will ideally bring a strong metals or mining background, with underground mining and processing experience highly regarded. Candidates based in Townsville, Mackay or Brisbane will be considered.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead site safety strategy, systems, governance and performance
- Provide visible safety leadership across the operation
- Drive risk management, assessments and critical controls
- Review and improve existing safety systems and processes
- Support operational leaders to manage safety risks effectively
- Lead contractor safety management and performance oversight




- Ensure safety standards and legislative requirements are maintained
- Analyse safety performance and identify opportunities for improvement
- Navigate complex operational environments with confidence and autonomy

About you

- Experienced Safety Manager with a strong mining or metals background
- Strong capability across safety systems, governance and risk management
- Experience in processing operations is highly regarded
- Underground mining experience is highly desirable
- Proven ability to manage contractor safety and performance
- Structured, pragmatic and process-focused approach to safety
- Confident operating autonomously within complex environments
- Experience with SkyTrust or similar systems is advantageous
- Based in or willing to travel from Townsville, Mackay or Brisbane
