Job Description
You'll be part of a design team delivering land development projects from concept through to documentation. Day-today, that means producing designs for residential lots, roads, and supporting infrastructure like water and sewer networks, while building your understanding of how projects come together.
n
You'll work closely with a Senior Designer, contribute to project deliverables, and have the opportunity to support more junior team members as you develop. There's a good balance of structured guidance and autonomy, so you can keep progressing without feeling out of your depth.
n
This is a hands-on Civil Designer position focused on delivering practical, high-quality design outcomes across a mix of infrastructure and civil projects.
n
On a day-to-day basis, you'll be:
n
n
- Producing civil designs and detailed drawings using tools like AutoCAD and 12d
n
- Supporting project delivery from concept through to documentation and submission
n
- Preparing plans, reports and technical documentation for client and authority approvals
n
- Liaising with local councils and other stakeholders to keep projects moving
n
- Assisting with design calculations and ensuring compliance with relevant standards
n
- Supporting and mentoring two junior team members within the design team
n
n
The role is primarily office-based, with some exposure to site environments where relevant.
n
What we're looking for
n
We're keen to hear from Civil Designers who can work with a level of independence, while still valuing collaboration and input from senior engineers.
n
Must have:
n
n
- Around 1+ years' experience in civil design, or close to completing a Civil Engineering degree
n
- Solid understanding of civil design principles, standards and documentation
n
- Exposure to land development projects in Queensland
n
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and 12d
n
n
Nice to have:
n
n
- Experience working on Queensland-based projects
n
- Confidence in supporting or mentoring junior team members
n
- Exposure to local authority submissions and approvals
n
n
The Team and Environment
n
You'll be based in a Mackay CBD office, close to local cafés, shops and everyday amenities, with free parking nearby.
n
The team is team-oriented and practical in how they work. You'll be supported by experienced engineers, including Principal-level mentors, and be part of a group that shares knowledge rather than working in silos.
n
There's also a strong local connection – with the office located near Bluewater Quay, where markets and live music are part of the community feel.
n
n
- Variety of work across regional projects
n
- Direct exposure to experienced Principal Engineers
n
- Opportunity to step into a mentoring role with junior staff
n
- CBD office location close to amenities and the waterfront
n
- Free parking nearby
n
- Stable, project-focused workload with real local impact
n
- Enjoy an extra day of leave on your birthday!
n
- $250 Wellness Advantages to use towards healthy lifestyle initiatives
n
- Grow our team with our generous referral bonus scheme
