Your New Role

n

In this role, you'll act for respondent parties in a large number of native title claims and advise a broad client base including local governments, government corporations, developers, and pastoral holders -on the native title and cultural heritage dimensions of major infrastructure and development projects.

n

Joining this highly regarded team means gaining access to a wide scope of matters that few practices can offer. You'll enjoy hands-on experience across:

n

n
- Providing strategic advice on compliance with native title and Aboriginal cultural heritage legislation;
n
- Appearing in Federal Court mediations and case management hearings;
n
- Conducting due diligence investigations and delivering insightful assessment advice; and
n
- Supporting and leading negotiations on Indigenous Land Use Agreements and Cultural Heritage Agreements.

Your Skills Profile

n

n
- 1 - 4 years PAE;
n
- An understanding of native title and cultural heritage legislation;
n
- Be comfortable working closely with clients and Traditional Owners;
n
- Be interested in solving novel legal issues;
n
- Capable of juggling multiple matters and prioritising effectively;
n
- Have the ability or desire to run with matters with the assistance of a partner, as required;
n
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
n
- Self-driven and able to meet deadlines;
n
- Willingness to undertake pro-bono work, as required;
n
- Enjoy working in a team environment; and
n
- Travel, when necessary, for meetings or on-country court appearances.
n

Whilst experience in native title law would be beneficial, we are also interested to hear from those with a genuine passion to practice in this area.
