Job Description
n
Ability Action Australia is growing - and we're looking for aBehaviour Support Practitioner to join our multi-disciplinary team.
n
The successful candidate will be providing supports to NDIS participants living close to the Ipswich area.
n
Responsibilities will include:
n
n
- Assisting NDIS participants, along with their families and/or carers, to manage challenging behaviours to improve their quality of life, and develop new skills
n
- You will complete thorough assessments to understand behaviour triggers, identify risks & consider specific strategies to improve behaviour outcomes
n
- You will develop Behaviour Support Plans and provide support to families and/or carers, for consistent implementation
n
- Maintain a caseload with ongoing monitoring, support and make adjustments where required.
n
- Develop meaningful goals and practical strategies utilising a positive behaviour support framework, with a commitment to eliminate restrictive practices, in the home and community
n
- Ensuring individual plans reflect our NDIS participants' goals, passions and strengths, as well as ensuring they get more out of life
n
- Build the knowledge, capacity and strengths of those who support participants in their lives - family, carers or friends
n
- Act as an advocate and role model for best practice
n
- Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
n

Qualifications
n
What we are looking for:
n
n
- Demonstrated experience working with disabilities and challenging behaviours
n
- Disability &/or Mental Health support work experience essential.
n
- Degree level qualifications of relevance to providing supportto people with behaviours of concern are highly preferred
n
- Commitment to person-centred practice and reducing restrictive interventions
n
- Strong report writing skills and the ability to translate assessment findings into clear, actionable plans
n
- Excellent time management and organisational skills to balance a dynamic caseload
n
n
