Required Qualifications:
n
n
- Valid MN teaching license in Birth to 3rd Grade, PreKindergarten or Parent and Family Education.
n
- Must demonstrate continued professional development through coursework, research and peer collaboration.
n
- Considerable knowledge of the core curriculum areas the teacher is responsible for instructing.
n
- Considerable knowledge of educational philosophy, teaching methods and approaches, current researched best practices and strategies.
n
- Considerable knowledge of students' learning styles and needs, both academic and affective.
n
- Considerable knowledge of multicultural, gender and disability fair curriculum concepts.
n
- Considerable knowledge of classroom management techniques.
n
- Working knowledge of instructional technologies.
n
- Considerable skill in classroom presentation.
n
- Considerable skill in classroom management and organization.
n
- Working skill in maintaining records and developing reports.
n
- Considerable ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
n
- Considerable ability to plan and implement lessons based upon district and school goals and objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned.
n
- Considerable ability to adapt teaching styles to diverse student populations.
n
- Considerable ability to interact effectively with students,
parents, other school staff, administration and community members of diverse ethnic/racial and socioeconomic backgrounds.
n
- Considerable ability to evaluate student performance and to present these evaluations in a manner that fosters higher student achievement.
n
- Considerable ability to work in a cooperative learning environment.
n
- Working ability to utilize computer and multimedia technology as appropriate.
n
n
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
n
n
- Develops lesson plans and instructional materials which are developmentally appropriate and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the District approved curriculum to the needs of each student.
n
- Evaluates students academic and social-emotional growth, keeps appropriate records in a timely fashion and prepares progress reports.
n
- Collaborates in identifying student needs and makes appropriate referrals as needed. Collaborates with the ECSE team with implementing individualized education plans as needed in the classroom.
n
- Maintains a professional day, as defined by building/and contract. Communicates regularly with parents outside normal classroom day by means of newsletters, phone calls, e-mails, conferences, etc.
n
- Works in a supportive and collaborative manner with colleagues and supervisors.
n
- Maintains and improves professional skills by participating in building and department meetings, formal coursework, workshops, and seminars in an effort to stay current with best teaching practices.
n
- Participates in a qualified learning community on a regular basis.
n
- Integration of technology into instruction.
n
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
n
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 35 pounds.
n
n
Specific Responsibilities:

- Collaborative work in a fast-paced environment interacting with students, staff, administrators, parents, and the community with multiple requests and concerns.

- Support and communicate with other administrators and staff.
n
- Respond in emergency situations.
n
- Know, interpret, and follow school District policies.
n
- May provide input to the goal-setting process for paraprofessionals.
n

- Demonstrated ability to apply appropriate skills in performing daily routines.
n
- Demonstrated ability to operate a computer, software and necessary classroom technology.
n
- Ability to develop effective and positive working relationships with students, staff, administrators, parents, and the community.
n
- Maintain professional composure while dealing with a variety of personalities and situations.
n
- Show initiative and function as a self-starter.
n
- Effectively communicate and have interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, and the general public
