THE ROLE

n

Reporting to the Venue Manager, the Assistant Manager plays a key leadership role in the day-to-day operation of the Salisbury Hotel, with a strong emphasis on delivering exceptional food and beverage experiences.

n

Working alongside department leaders, you'll help drive service standards, profitability, team development and operational excellence across the venue. You'll be a visible leader on the floor, supporting our restaurant, bar, functions and gaming operations while ensuring every guest receives outstanding hospitality.

n

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced hospitality professional looking to take the next step in their leadership career within one of South Australia's leading family-owned hospitality groups.

This is a full-time salaried position. Flexibility to work across a 7-day roster, including evenings, weekends and public holidays, is essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

n

n
- Lead day-to-day venue operations with a strong focus on food and beverage service.
n
- Be a visible and approachable leader during service, supporting the team to deliver exceptional guest experiences.
n
- Coach, mentor and develop supervisors and frontline employees.
n
- Support recruitment, onboarding,



training and performance management in line with Matthews Hospitality policies.
n
- Drive service standards, product knowledge and upselling opportunities across food and beverage operations.
n
- Work closely with the Venue Manager to achieve financial, operational and customer satisfaction targets.
n
- Assist with labour management, rostering and wage control.
n
- Monitor stock levels, ordering and inventory to minimise wastage and maximise profitability.
n
- Support the planning and delivery of functions, promotions and special events.
n
- Ensure the venue is presented to the highest standard at all times.
n
- Maintain compliance with Liquor Licensing legislation, Responsible Service of Alcohol requirements and the Work Health and Safety Act 2012.
n
- Respond professionally and efficiently to guest feedback and resolve issues with confidence.
n
- Assist in leading the venue in the absence of the Venue Manager.
n

Complete other duties as required to support the successful operation of the hotel.

- Previous experience in a hospitality leadership role such as Assistant Manager, Duty Manager or Restaurant Manager.
n
- Strong food and beverage knowledge with a genuine passion for quality hospitality.
n
- Proven leadership, coaching and team development skills.
n
- Experience managing busy service periods while maintaining high standards.
n
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
n
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing demands.
n
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of labour, stock and cost control.
n
- Experience with recruitment, performance management and employee development.
n
- A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
