Communications Engineer/Senior Communications Engineer

About the role
An exciting opportunity exists for a Communications Engineer / Senior Communications Engineer to join our growing team. Reporting to the Engineering Manager and working alongside a team of highly skilled and dedicated professionals, you will participate in the planning, design and implementation of advanced communications systems delivering voice and data connectivity across both wired and wireless environments.
Working collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders, you will contribute to the assessment, planning, design, documentation, configuration, testing and commissioning of communications systems and networks that are reliable, secure, scalable and cost-effective. This role provides the opportunity to apply and further develop your technical expertise while working under the guidance of Senior and Lead Communications Engineers, who will provide technical direction, mentorship and peer review throughout project delivery.
This position is ideally suited to an experienced Communications Engineer who enjoys contributing to complex engineering projects as part of a collaborative team environment. While the role does not currently have direct leadership responsibilities,
there will be opportunities to take on increased technical responsibility and lead engineering work packages and project activities as your experience and expertise continue to develop.
Key responsibilities
- Participate in the planning, design and implementation of advanced communications systems delivering voice and data connectivity across both wired and wireless environments
- Contribute to the assessment, planning, design, documentation, configuration, testing and commissioning of communications systems and networks
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders
- Apply and further develop technical expertise under the guidance of Senior and Lead Communications Engineers
- Take on increased technical responsibility and lead engineering work packages and project activities as experience develops
About you
- Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Electronic, or Electrical Engineering or other relevant field
- Eligibility for membership of Engineers Australia at the grade of member (MIEAust), with Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) being highly regarded
- A minimum five years of practical experience in the design and implementation of wireless and fixed communications systems within a related industry such as Telecommunications, Mining, Oil & Gas, Rail, Utilities or Defence
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills,
with the ability to confidently engage with clients, represent Radlink professionally, and build strong relationships with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- A proactive, energetic and self-motivated approach, with a strong desire to learn, contribute, and actively participate in the successful delivery of engineering projects
- Experience across design and documentation, system configuration, testing and commissioning
- Strong communication systems knowledge and demonstrated experience in wireless data LTE/5G, Wi-Fi, digital and analogue voice mobile radio systems (TETRA, P25, DMR, etc), backhaul technologies, antenna design, passive infrastructure designs, Ethernet networking, built infrastructure design, and underground mining voice and data communication solutions
