Alluvium Consulting

Queensland

We are looking for an experienced stormwater professional who is passionate about improving the way stormwater and urban waterways are managed in our cities and communities. We want someone who sees stormwater not simply as something to drain away, but as a valuable resource that can contribute to greener, cooler and more liveable communities, while protecting and enhancing downstream receiving environments.

You will bring experience applying these principles in practice across greenfield and infill development, working with both government and development-sector clients. You will understand the relationship between urban development, stormwater runoff and waterway health, and be able to translate strategy and policy into practical, deliverable solutions.

You will work with Alluvium’s engineers, geomorphologists, scientists, strategists, planners and social scientists to develop integrated solutions spanning stormwater management, water-sensitive urban design and urban waterways.

A key focus will be finding practical ways to manage stormwater closer to where it falls - reducing runoff volumes and pollutant loads, increasing opportunities for reuse and passive irrigation, supporting urban greening, and protecting and restoring the ecological and community values of urban waterways.

The role is preferably based in Brisbane or Townsville where our core Queensland urban water and waterway teams are located. The role will work on projects primarily within Queensland, however, is also likely to work on projects in other geographic locations across eastern Australia and overseas.

- Demonstrated experience developing and/or designing stormwater solutions (including bioretention, wetlands, detention
basins, channel naturalisation for greenfield and infill settings
- Ability to take projects from strategy and concept development through to practical design and implementation
- An appreciation of how the management of our urban waterways and catchments can be improved and how you would like
to contribute to this

- A willingness to contribute to a collaborative and values-driven work culture
- Solid interpersonal skills
- Experience working within a team but also to work autonomously when required
- Proven ability to develop good rapport with clients, stakeholders, staff and partners, together with listening skills, empathy
and awareness
