Lead marketing for an organisation advancing ultrasound capability and supporting better patient care
AIU is looking for an experienced Marketing Manager to lead our marketing function and help shape how we understand our markets, connect with healthcare professionals and volunteers, and support sustainable organisational growth.
Our work helps healthcare professionals build ultrasound skills, confidence and the ability to integrate ultrasound into clinical practice, ultimately contributing to better patient care. Volunteers also play an important role in supporting hands‑on education and helping clinicians develop real‑world capability.
As Marketing Manager, you’ll help ensure the right audiences discover, understand and engage with AIU’s education and volunteer opportunities.
This is a senior role combining marketing strategy, market and customer insight, brand, digital marketing leadership, audience development and team management. As a member of AIU’s Executive Leadership Team, you’ll contribute directly to organisational strategy and decision‑making while leading a small marketing team.
You’ll work closely with Education, Operations and Business Systems to turn market intelligence and customer insight into practical strategies, campaigns and recommendations that support AIU’s course portfolio, audience growth and future direction.
About AIU
The Australian Institute of Ultrasound is a leader in ultrasound education and training, providing high-quality, hands‑on education for healthcare professionals.
Together with our franchise partners, we are committed to supporting skilled growth and delivering practical learning experiences that help healthcare professionals build confidence and capability in ultrasound.
Our volunteers are an important part of that learning experience, helping support supervised practical training across a range of AIU programs.
About the role
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you will take ownership of AIU’s marketing strategy and provide leadership across market intelligence, brand, audience development, campaigns and marketing performance.
You will also establish and facilitate AIU’s Clinical Advisory Committees,
working with clinical and executive stakeholders to gather meaningful market and clinical insight and translate it into recommendations for the organisation.
This is an ideal opportunity for a strategic and commercially aware marketer who enjoys combining market insight, marketing leadership and practical oversight, and values the chance to contribute to better healthcare education and patient care.
This role is based at AIU’s Broadbeach Waters office, with flexibility to work from home by agreement.
Key responsibilities
You will:
- Develop and lead AIU’s annual marketing strategy, priorities and budget.
- Identify market opportunities through customer, competitor, clinical and course-performance insights.
- Establish and facilitate AIU’s Clinical Advisory Committees and translate insights into meaningful recommendations for the Executive Leadership Team.
- Contribute the market and customer perspective to course portfolio, positioning and pricing decisions.
- Translate organisational priorities into integrated campaigns with clear objectives, audiences, messaging, channels, budgets and measures of success.
- Provide strategic leadership and quality oversight across paid media, digital marketing, SEO, social media, email, website and content activity.
- Lead AIU’s brand, positioning, messaging and communications strategy, including opportunities to tell meaningful stories about AIU’s learners, clinicians, volunteers and impact.
- Analyse marketing performance, customer behaviour, course demand and return on investment to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Lead integrated audience-development activity across learner recruitment and volunteer acquisition, including partnerships, advocacy, organic reach and opportunities to build sustainable audience growth.
- Lead, coach and develop the Digital Marketing Specialist and Volunteer Partnerships Coordinator.
- Manage external agencies, suppliers and specialist marketing partners where required.
- Work collaboratively with Education, Operations and Business Systems to ensure marketing priorities align with clinical, operational and organisational requirements.
- Contribute actively as a member of AIU’s Executive Leadership Team.
About you
You are an experienced marketer who can move comfortably between strategic thinking, data and practical marketing execution.
You understand digital marketing deeply enough to provide credible strategic direction and quality oversight across campaign strategy, targeting, creative, measurement and optimisation, while also being able to step back and consider broader market opportunities, customer needs and organisational priorities.
You’ll bring:
- A tertiary qualification in Marketing, Business, Commerce, Communications or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience leading marketing strategy and integrated marketing activity.
- Strong in-house digital marketing experience, with the practical knowledge required to provide informed strategic direction, quality oversight and continuous improvement across digital marketing activity.
- Experience managing direct reports and developing team capability.
- Strong understanding of paid digital media, SEO, social media, websites, email marketing, content and digital analytics.
- Experience using market, customer and performance data to inform strategy and decision-making.
- Experience developing brand, positioning, communications and content strategies.
- Strong commercial awareness and the ability to interpret marketing performance and return on investment.
- Experience building audiences through a mix of marketing, content, partnerships and engagement activity.
- Experience working cross-functionally and influencing senior stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience in healthcare, medical education, professional education or another specialist or regulated environment would be highly regarded.
Experience facilitating advisory groups, customer forums or other stakeholder insight activities would also be advantageous.
What we offer
- A senior marketing role with genuine influence on organisational strategy and decision-making.
- The opportunity to shape AIU’s marketing, brand, partnerships, audience development and market intelligence capability, and find new ways to share the impact of AIU’s work.
- A purpose‑driven environment where your work supports healthcare professionals to build ultrasound skills, confidence and the ability to integrate ultrasound into clinical practice, ultimately contributing to better patient care.
- The opportunity to lead and develop a small marketing team.
- Close collaboration with clinical, education, operations and business systems leaders.
- Support for ongoing career development and leadership growth.
- Hybrid working flexibility by agreement.
- A Gold Coast‑based role within a specialist education organisation with national and international reach.
- Indicative base salary of $120,000–$130,000 + super (full-time equivalent), depending on experience and pro rata for a 4‑day arrangement.
