About the role

In this role, you will be expected to carry out allocated tasks to specified standards, to meet customer and divisional expectations for high quality turf maintenance of Councils specialised turf areas, including golf courses, turf wickets and sports ground maintenance.

Work type: Fixed term Full Time - 24 months
Classification: Band 4 $76,010 pa plus super (pro rata)

Key responsibilities include:

- Operate and maintain horticultural / arboriculture plant and equipment including sprayers, hand/small ride on mowers, small tractors, large ride-on mowers and related machinery in an effective and productive manner and in compliance with relevant laws, regulations and practices.
- Undertake horticultural duties in and around Golf Courses and Kardinia Park, including mowing, brushcutting, blowing and weed control.
- Assist Senior Team leader indelivering TAFE education turf programs.
- Spraying of appropriate insecticides, herbicide and fungicides to a regular or modified program as required, in accordance with manufactures recommendations.
- Work within all Council health and safety policies and wear/use personal safety equipment provided.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have demonstrated experience in maintenance of golf courses and turf areas to a high standard and are proficient in the use of herbicides, insecticides, pesticides and fungicides and the ability to work as part of a team. Wicket preparation experience desired, however not essential.

- Certificate 3 in Horticulture (Turf Management).
- Current Victorian Drivers Licence.
- A light truck licence would be an advantage.
- A current Working with Children Check (employee).
- Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check and a pre-employment medical assessment as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
