About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for suitably qualified and experienced Beach Lifeguards to join our Beach Safety team located within Council's Leisure, Beach Safety and Community Facilities Unit. Seasonal Beach Lifeguards are employed for the duration of the summer season commencing 21 September 2026 working a 38 hour week rostered between 7:45am and 6:00pm from Monday to Friday.
Seasonal Beach Lifeguards take on a leadership role for their allocated patrolled beach and play a key role in mentoring and supporting the lifeguarding team to provide the very best in aquatic safety for residents and visitors within the Central Coast Region.
This position is required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community.
Provide evidence of Hepatitis B immunity or the commencement of this vaccination prior to season commencement
Provide evidence of current Tetanus vaccination prior to commencement
Current First Aid certificate HLTAID011
The ability to obtain the Provide Advanced Resuscitation GLTAID015 certificate
Current NSW General Boating Licence or ability to obtain prior to season commencement
Current Class C Driver's Licence
Current Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain prior to season commencement
Demonstrated experience in lifeguarding or other emergency service areas with a demonstrated solid commitment to customer service
Demonstrated ability to carry out safety procedures and use appropriate safety equipment
Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to Work Health and Safety and Environmental Management Principles
Demonstrated ability to embrace change and commitment to work across multiple work locations
Shortlisted applicants must be available to:
Attend the nominated skills testing day and complete the entire test on the day specified and be available to attend an interview on the allocated interview day if successful in passing all physical testing.
Bring to Testing Day or Interview any relevant qualifications and licences as requested in the job advertisement, both originals and photocopies. Licence numbers must be referenced in the application in order to proceed to testing.
Provide a Working with Children Check Clearance under the Child Protection (Working with Children) Regulation 2013 (If over 18 years old).
The skills testing and interview day will be held on Saturday, 5 September 2026.
Shortlisted candidates must pass all of the following skills testing requirements:
Complete beep test to a predetermined level as required.
Beach run, swim, run, swim, paddle, run, paddle, run, with given time.
Simulated use of rescue equipment in performing surf rescues, including rescue board and rescue tube.
Practical and written first aid examination and assessment.
Assess a patient and apply spinal care management principles.
Competent use of all oxygen equipment.

Other important information
The salary range for this position sits between $1,308 - $1,572 per week + $19.49 weekly allowance + 12% superannuation
We have multiple temporary full-time roles available
This role will be able to access a 19-day month
This role is located at all Central Coast Council patrolled beaches
