Job Description
Sydney | Permanent
n
You will be responsible for a Windows estate supporting hundreds of restaurant sites and corporate offices. The role is hands-on, with a clear brief to improve how the fleet is deployed, monitored, patched and automated.
n
The immediate priority is better fleet standards and observability. From there, the focus is PowerShell automation and practical AI use cases that reduce monitoring noise and manual triage.
n
You will guide one Infrastructure Analyst and act as the senior escalation point, but this is not a step-away-from-the-tools management job. Network delivery sits with a specialist MSP, so your attention stays on Windows engineering and proactive operations.
n
The work
n
n
- Set consistent standards for Windows deployment, configuration, hardening, patching and lifecycle management.
n
- Build a clearer real-time view of fleet health through better monitoring, observability and alerting.
n
- Automate common infrastructure tasks and response processes using PowerShell and APIs.
n
- Turn recurring incidents into permanent fixes through strong root cause analysis.
n
- Keep Microsoft 365, Teams and Zoom secure, reliable and performing to standard.
n
- Coach the Infrastructure Analyst,
coordinate specialist partners and take part in the rostered on-call arrangement.
n
n
What we are looking for
n
n
- Deep, current Windows endpoint and server engineering experience.
n
- A track record of setting standards across a large or distributed fleet.
n
- Hands-on experience implementing or materially improving monitoring and alerting.
n
- Strong PowerShell skills. Python, JavaScript and REST API experience are useful.
n
- Broad experience across production support, security, patching, change and difficult escalations.
n
- The confidence to mentor a small team and keep external partners accountable.
n
- Practical curiosity about AI and the judgement to identify safe, helpful applications.
n
n
Experience in retail, hospitality, POS or another multi-site environment is highly regarded. Microsoft Power Platform, Azure, virtualisation and relevant Microsoft certifications are useful alongside the core Windows and automation depth.
n
The scale matters here. Better monitoring, patching and automation will be felt across a national estate that runs around the clock. You will be able to raise technical standards while staying close enough to the setting to see whether the changes work.
