A leading tertiary institution is seeking an experienced Senior Security Engineer to take ownership of key cybersecurity and infrastructure security initiatives. This role is ideal for a hands‐on professional with strong expertise in firewalls and Okta identity management, backed by a solid foundation in security‐focused systems engineering. Key Responsibilities

n

n
- Configure, maintain and optimise Palo Alto Next‐Generation Firewalls, including application‐level rules and threat policies.
n
- Lead firewall‐related implementations and network hardening initiatives.
n
- Lead the deployment and ongoing management of Okta SSO and MFA solutions.
n
- Implement secure access controls, integrations and policies aligned to best practice.
n
- Apply secure configuration principles across Windows environments and Active Directory.
n
- Conduct Group Policy reviews and develop supporting recommendations/documentation.
n
- Embed security‐by‐design across infrastructure and systems work.
n
- Advise on secure configurations, network segmentation and authentication mechanisms.
n

To be successful, your CV should demonstrate the following:

n

n




- Proven experience in systems and security engineering.
n
- Hands‐on experience with Okta and possess knowledge of other IAM technologies.
n
- Experience working with firewalls configurations and network security strengthening (Experience with Palo Alto is beneficial but not essential).
n
- Strong understanding of Windows Server, AD and Group Policy.
n
- Familiarity with network protocols, routing and VPNs.
n
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
n
- Self‐sufficient, proactive and solutions‐focused with solid security best practice awareness.
