Applications are invited for a suitably qualified School Nurse for a fixed term part-time Education Support Employee (ESE, Category B) position here at Ave Maria College Aberfeldie.

The role is for Term 4 2026 and for the 2027 school year: Monday 5 October 2026 to Wednesday 26 January 2028.

This is a part-time role: 0.47 FTE. It is expected that the role would cover the hours of Monday: 8.00am – 4.05pm; Tuesday: 8.00am – 4.05pm; and every second Wednesday: 8.25am – 2.25pm.

The School Nurse is responsible to the Principal through the Assistant Principal (Students and Engagement) for providing first aid, assessment, care, referral and support of students of the Ave Maria College community

The School Nurse consults with the members of the Student Wellbeing Team and other College staff in the implementation of practices that reduce health risks for students.

The successful applicant will have a demonstrated commitment to Catholic education and the safety and wellbeing of children.

Upon commencement the successful applicant will have obtained a valid Working with Children Check (Employee status) and National Police Record Check.

Qualifications / Experience





Enrolled Nurse - An enrolled nurse (diploma qualified) with experience in providing primary nursing care with its associated administrative responsibilities (Education Support Employee Level 2); or

Registered Nurse - A registered nurse (degree qualified) with experience in providing health counselling, health education and acting in a resource capacity to the College community, in addition to providing primary care and its associated administrative duties. (Education Support Employee Level 3)

Special Requirements

- Uphold the highest ethical standards
- Provide first aid care to ill or injured staff and students with consideration to confidentiality and privacy
- Maintain knowledge of relevant current legislation, e.g. Nurses Act, Health and Privacy Acts, Mandatory Reporting, to provide excellence in duty of care.
- Maintain competencies for effective nursing practice by regularly being involved in and having access to professional learning opportunities.
- Maintain annual registration as a (registered) nurse as required Ensure First Aid, CPR, Anaphylaxis, Asthma training and qualifications are fulfilled as per College Policies.
