We are looking for an Assistant Accountant to support the Finance Manager in managing the day-to-day financial operations of the company. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate accounts receivable (AR) and accounts payable (AP) records, ensuring timely processing of transactions, and contributing to financial reporting within a fast-paced logistics environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Monitor customer accounts closely to ensure timely collection of payments.
- Follow up on due and overdue accounts to minimise outstanding balances.
- Support the AR team with payment reconciliations when required.
- Liaise with customers regarding invoice queries and discrepancies.
Accounts Payable (AP)
- Oversee and support the AP team in day-to-day operations.
- Review and ensure accuracy of supplier invoice processing and payment runs.
- Assist in resolving escalated supplier and internal queries.
Reporting & General Finance Support
- Reconcile Credit card accounts and ensure accurate record-keeping.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports and reconciliations.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes.
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and documentation.
- Assist with audit preparation and compliance requirements.
- Assist with payroll processing and related queries when required.
- Provide general administrative support to the Finance Manager as required.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar accounting or finance role.
- Experience in the logistics, transport, or supply chain industry is preferred.
- Knowledge of the Jaix system is highly regarded.
- Solid understanding of AR and AP processes and accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., MYOB, Xero, SAP, or similar).
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Good time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
