A Career Opportunity Where You Can Do Your Best Work

Are you an experienced small animal veterinarian looking for a role where you can enjoy your career, work with a genuinely supportive team, and still have a life outside the clinic?

We are looking for a Senior Associate Veterinarian with 4+ years of experience to join our established veterinary hospital in Ipswich, Queensland.

This is an opportunity to become part of a professional, caring and experienced team where you will have the support, resources and facilities to provide an exceptional standard of care to your patients and clients.

Why you'll love this role

$125k - $140k + superannuation per year (negotiable based on experience)
38 hours per week across just 4 days
No on-call requirements
2 support staff per veterinarian
Study allowance + paid study leave
Excellent staff discounts
Supportive and experienced veterinary team
Wide variety of medical, surgical and emergency cases

We understand that being a great veterinarian isn't just about having excellent clinical skills. It's about having the time, support, resources and people around you to do your job properly.

That's why our hospital is structured to support our veterinarians rather than simply expecting them to manage everything themselves.

With approximately two support staff for every veterinarian, you'll have a dedicated team around you to assist with patient care, procedures, hospital work and client communication.

About Us

We have a dedicated and loyal client base who have come to expect a high degree of communication, compassion and quality veterinary care from our team.

Our clients value the relationships we build with them and trust us with some of the most important members of their families.

Our hospital provides a varied caseload, including general consultations, emergency presentations, medical cases and a broad range of surgical procedures.

You’ll work alongside experienced veterinarians and support staff who are committed to sharing knowledge, helping each other and maintaining a positive workplace.

We believe a good veterinary hospital should be a place where people enjoy coming to work, feel supported by their colleagues and can continue developing professionally.

The Role

This is a full-time Senior Associate Veterinarian position, working 38 hours per week across 4 days.

Your role will include:

General small animal consultations

Emergency and urgent-care cases

Medicine and preventative healthcare

A wide variety of surgical procedures

Dentistry and dental radiography

Diagnostic workups and case management

Client education and communication

Working collaboratively with our veterinary and nursing teams

Supporting less experienced team members through your knowledge and experience

We are looking for someone who is confident managing cases independently but also understands the value of asking questions, collaborating with colleagues and using the wider team’s experience when needed.

Working hours

Weekday shifts vary, with start times commencing between 6:30am and 9am,

and concluding between 5pm and 7:30pm for 9.5hr shifts.

Weekend/Public Holiday shifts commence between 6:30am and 7:00am, and concluding between 5pm and 5:30pm, for 9.5hr shifts.

Total weekly hours are 38 per week, 76 per fortnight, with 4-week rosters provided in advance.

There is no compulsory on-call requirement.

Where appropriate, after-hours work may be undertaken at your discretion and on your terms, with additional bonus remuneration available.

What We Offer

Competitive remuneration

A salary of between $125k - $140k + superannuation per annum, with consideration given to experience and suitability for the role.

Invest in your development

We genuinely want our veterinarians to continue learning.

You’ll receive:

Paid study leave

Support for continuing professional development

Opportunities to develop clinical and leadership skills

Access to experienced colleagues who are happy to share their knowledge

Your education allowance can be used towards appropriate professional development, including courses, conferences, technology and other approved educational expenses.

A team designed to support you

One of the biggest advantages of this role is our staffing structure.

We aim for approximately 2 support staff per veterinarian.

That means you aren’t expected to be the veterinarian, nurse, receptionist, surgical assistant and hospital attendant all at once.

Our experienced support team helps you focus on what you do best — providing excellent veterinary medicine and patient care.

Our hospital is equipped with:

Digital radiography

IDEXX in-house laboratory equipment

Fully equipped surgical facilities

Dedicated consultation and treatment spaces

Up-to-date hospitalisation areas

EzyVet practice management software

Fully equipped house-call vehicles

A broad range of diagnostic and treatment equipment

You’ll have the tools and infrastructure necessary to confidently manage a varied caseload.

A varied and interesting caseload

No two days are exactly the same.

You’ll have the opportunity to manage everything from routine preventative healthcare through to complex medical cases, emergencies and surgical procedures.

If you enjoy variety and want to continue developing your clinical skills, you’ll find plenty of opportunity here.

Work-life balance

We believe being a great veterinarian shouldn’t require sacrificing your life outside of work.

Working 38 hours over 4 days provides a genuine additional day away from the hospital each week.

There is also no on‑call, allowing you to properly switch off when you’re not working.

You’ll also receive:

Education and study support

Supportive management

A professional and respectful workplace

Opportunities for career development

A team that genuinely values your contribution

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for an experienced veterinarian who brings more than just clinical knowledge.

You’ll ideally be someone who:

Has 4+ years' experience as a small animal veterinarian

Communicates confidently and professionally

Builds strong relationships with clients

Is comfortable making challenging clinical decisions

Has excellent clinical judgement

Works collaboratively with colleagues

Is willing to support and mentor less experienced team members

Has strong emotional intelligence and self‑awareness

Is compassionate and empathetic

Has a positive and mature approach to feedback

Takes pride in delivering a high standard of patient care

Is committed to continued professional development

Understands the importance of teamwork in a busy veterinary hospital

We’re looking for someone who wants to be part of a team, not simply someone looking for somewhere to work.

Our Ideal Senior Associate

You don't need to know everything.

We want someone who is confident enough to make decisions, humble enough to ask for help, experienced enough to guide others and passionate enough to keep learning.

You’ll be trusted to manage your own cases while having an experienced team around you when you need support.

We value veterinarians who approach their work objectively, communicate honestly and always strive to find the best outcome for the patient and their family.
