Site Based Commercial Manager

The Opportunity

n

Spiecapag Australia is delivering some of the country's most complex pipeline and HDD infrastructure projects. We are seeking a Commercial Manager to lead the commercial, contractual, and financial performance of our projects.

n

This role is also well suited to a Senior Contract Administrator or Senior Quantity Surveyor ready to step into a Commercial Manager position, with strong experience across cost control, contract administration, and major project delivery.

About the Role

n

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will take ownership of the full commercial function, ensuring projects are delivered profitably, compliantly, and with strong contractual control.

n

You will partner closely with operations to drive outcomes across cost, time, risk, and change management while leading and developing the commercial team.

n

Key Responsibilities

n

- Lead all commercial, contractual and financial management of projects
n
- Administer head contract and subcontracts, ensuring all notices and entitlements are managed correctly
n
- Drive cost control, forecasting, and margin performance (EAC, cost to complete, forecasts)
n
- Implement and manage change management processes, ensuring variations, delays and claims are captured and recovered
n
- Provide strategic commercial advice to the Project Manager and senior leadership
n
- Lead risk and opportunity management, maintaining a live and actionable project register
n
- Manage procurement and supply chain, maximising value and margin outcomes
n




- Oversee project reporting, including financial and non-financial performance metrics
n
- Drive commercial awareness across the project team and build a strong cost-conscious culture
n
- Mentor and develop commercial team members to build long-term capability
n

About You

n

You will have:

n

- Experience in contract administration and cost control on major construction/infrastructure projects
n
- Background as a:
n n
- Commercial Manager, OR
n
- Senior Contract Administrator, OR
n
- Senior Quantity Surveyor ready to step up
n
n
- Strong knowledge of contractual frameworks, claims, and change management
n
- Proven ability to manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting
n
- Experience engaging with clients, subcontractors, and multiple stakeholders
n
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills
n

Qualifications (preferred):

n

- Degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Law, Finance or similar
n
