Our client is a highly respected in their industry with extensive experience in providing word class quality products to the mining and construction industry. They pride themselves on quality services with a strong emphasis on safety including custom design and fabrication, equipment repair and maintenance, as well as equipment hire.
Due to growth, we're seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual who takes pride in their work to join their team as a Workshop Trades Assistant. This role assists with the preparation, movement, basic handling of components, and support tasks associated with metallurgical processes such as carburising, hardening, tempering, and stress relieving. The Trades Assistant plays a key role in maintaining a clean, organised work environment and contributing to consistent production outcomes. The role also includes conducting local deliveries and pickups using a company vehicle, and contributing to workplace safety and housekeeping standards.
The Role:
- Assist in the preparation and loading/unloading of components into heat treatment equipment.
- Provide hands-on support during the heat treatment cycle under supervision. Monitor and report any irregularities.
- Support inspections, hardness tests,
and metallurgical verifications to validate treatment quality.
- Monitor workflow and support priorities based on production schedules, customer deadlines, and operational constraints that have been defined by the manager.
- Assist with recording job details, part tracking, and identification marking as instructed. Ensure traceability and proper labelling.
- Support full traceability and correct documentation of all heat treatment processes.
- Support a clean, organised, and hazard-free work setting in alignment.
- Conduct local deliveries and pickups using the company vehicle in a safe and qualified manner.
- Adhere to all Safe Work Instructions (SWI), PPE requirements, and safety protocols. Promptly report hazards or incidents and say STOP if it looks or feels unsafe.
What we're looking for:
- Experience in a fitting, machining, heat treatment, manufacturing or engineering workshop or similar
- Drivers licence
- Forklift license and overhead crane licence (or willingness to obtain)
- Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks safely.
- Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow instructions and work under close supervision.
- Basic understanding of workshop safety practices.
- Self motivated, good organisations skills
- Punctual and reliable with exceptional interpersonal skills
