Your new role
n
As an APS6 Governance Officer, you will play a key role in managing Freedom of Information requests and supporting broader privacy and governance activities.
n
Your responsibilities will include:
n
n
- Responding to FOI requests in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Cth).
n
- Drafting FOI decisions, providing high-quality advice, and redacting sensitive information.
n
- Ensuring statutory deadlines are met and compliance obligations are maintained.
n
- Providing guidance and support to decision-makers on FOI legislation, policies and processes.
n
- Managing FOI reporting and related administrative activities.
n
- Supporting privacy casework, complaints handling, and the review and development of policies and procedures.
n
- Building and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
n
- Preparing briefs, executive reports,
ministerial correspondence and committee papers.
n

What you'll need to succeed
n
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
n
n
- APS experience at the APS6 level managing FOI requests and/or a robust understanding of the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Cth).
n
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
n
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build productive working relationships.
n
- Sound judgement, attention to detail and strong analytical capabilities.
n
- The ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
n
- A proactive and collaborative approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
