M-Techs is seeking a skilled Security Technician to join our growing Brisbane team in a full-time position.

You will install, commission, maintain and repair electronic security systems across commercial, government and retail sites. Our projects include retail stores, offices, industrial facilities, education sites, government assets and large commercial developments.

Our work is focused exclusively on commercial, government and retail clients - we do not undertake residential work.

This role would suit a capable technician who takes pride in producing reliable, professional installations and can work confidently both independently and as part of a team.

Key responsibilities

Install, configure, commission and test CCTV, access control, intercom, intruder alarm and monitoring systems

Perform preventative maintenance and inspections to keep systems operating reliably

Diagnose and repair system faults while minimising disruption and downtime for clients

Conduct site surveys and assist with determining suitable system requirements

Complete system programming, testing and client handovers

Read and work from plans, drawings, specifications and scopes of work

Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, maintenance and system configurations

Provide professional technical support and guidance to clients

Maintain company equipment, tools, spare parts and service records

Follow company procedures, site requirements and workplace health and safety regulations

Work across commercial, government and retail sites throughout Brisbane and surrounding areas

Experience with some of these brands would be highly regarded; however, applicants are not expected to have experience with every system.

What we’re looking for





Previous experience installing and maintaining electronic security systems

Experience with CCTV, access control, intercom and intruder alarm systems

Relevant qualifications in security systems, electronics, communications or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience

Sound knowledge of networking, IP-based systems and basic electrical principles

Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills

Ability to read plans, follow technical specifications and complete accurate documentation

Excellent attention to detail and pride in the quality of your work

Strong communication skills and a professional approach when dealing with clients

Ability to work independently and contribute positively to a team

Current security licence and relevant industry certifications, or the ability to obtain them where required

Ability to safely carry equipment and work at heights when required
