HR Cafe & Bar Pty Ltd is expanding its operations with a new venue in Mernda and is seeking an experienced and motivated Cook to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of modern Australian, international and Indian fusion dishes while maintaining consistent standards of quality, presentation, food safety and hygiene.

This position is suitable for an experienced Cook who can work efficiently in a busy commercial kitchen and contribute to the smooth day-to-day operation of the new venue.

Task & responsibilities

- Prepare and cook a wide range of contemporary Australian, international and Indian fusion dishes in accordance with established recipes and menu standards.




- Prepare ingredients, including vegetables, meats, sauces and other components required for daily service.
- Check dishes during preparation and cooking to ensure consistent quality, taste, presentation and portion sizes.
- Operate grills, ovens, fryers and other commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
- Check the quality and freshness of ingredients and prepared food before service.
- Assist with estimating food requirements, monitoring stock levels and minimising food wastage.Receive, store and rotate food supplies in accordance with food safety requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen and work area.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation and occupational health and safety requirements.
- Prepare food for functions, events and special dietary requirements where required.
- Work closely with other kitchen staff and front-of-house employees to ensure efficient and timely service.
- Assist junior kitchen staff with cooking and food preparation procedures where required.

Qualification & experience

- AQF Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery, or a relevant qualification.
- At least 1 year of relevant work experience.
- Good understanding of food safety, hygiene and kitchen procedures.
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen environment.
- Good time management, organisational and teamwork skills.
- Ability to maintain consistent food quality and presentation standards.
