Job Description
Join a high-growth, values-led national organisation in the care sector, with a substantial revenue base and a strong private equity backer supporting its next phase of expansion. With a large, modern support office in Brisbane's CBD and a sizeable, well-structured finance function, this is a business that genuinely sees Finance as a strategic partner – not just a back-office necessity.
n
You'll be joining a collaborative, down-to-earth team that prides itself on being supportive, commercially sharp and proudly people-focused. The culture is inclusive, flexible and built around continuous improvement, professional development and "rolling up the sleeves" when it counts.
n
The role
n
Due to an internal promotion, an exciting opportunity has opened up for a driven Financial Accountant to join the corporate finance team.
n
Reporting to a highly approachable Finance Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the financial accounting landscape for a number of key business units. This is a hands‐on role with real visibility – you'll work closely with both the Finance Manager and Financial Controller across statutory reporting, process improvement and strategic projects.
n
In this role, you will
n
n
- Own the preparation, review and reporting of financial and tax information, ensuring full compliance with regulatory obligations.
n
- Prepare monthly management and financial reports – including P&L;, balance sheet and cash flow – complete with insightful variance analysis.
n
- Manage month-end close activities, including reconciliations, journal entries and adherence to relevant accounting standards (including AASB 16).
n
- Support the preparation of statutory financial statements and assist with external audits and cash flow forecasting.
n
- Maintain and enhance internal controls,
updating the Internal Control Framework to minimise fraud and financial risk.
n
- Identify and implement process improvements that drive efficiency, reduce manual tasks, and improve data accuracy and quality.
n
- Liaise with external auditors and manage tax submissions (BAS, FBT, ATO reporting) in a timely and accurate manner.
n
- Prepare annual tax return documentation and contribute to the ongoing development of the Group's tax governance framework.
n
- Work within Microsoft Dynamics (AX) and help optimise the use of systems and tools across the wider finance function.
n
n
About you
n
You're a technically strong accountant who wants more than "same‐old month‐end". You're ready for a role where you can build a career – not just a CV – and where internal promotions are the norm, not the exception.
n
You're comfortable in the detail, but equally happy to step back, challenge the status quo and contribute ideas that make processes smarter and the business stronger.
n
You will
n
n
- Bring a strong grounding in financial accounting and reporting, ideally gained in a large, complex environment.
n
- Be confident communicating with stakeholders at different levels and explaining numbers in a clear, commercial way.
n
- Enjoy being hands‐on – you're the type who will roll up their sleeves and get stuck in when deadlines are tight.
n
- Be naturally curious, proactive and solutions‐focused, with a genuine interest in continuous improvement.
n
- Be motivated by the opportunity to develop, learn and progress in a sizeable, growing finance team.
n
n
Skills and experience
n
n
- CA/CPA qualified (or close to completion).
n
- Strong technical accounting skills, including experience with AASB standards.
n
- Ideal role for a Business Services first mover or a strong public practice background with commercial experience.
n
- Proven experience in financial reporting, month‐end, reconciliations and journals.
n
- Exposure to statutory reporting and supporting external audits.
n
- Experience with tax compliance (BAS, FBT, ATO reporting) and annual tax return preparation support.
n
- Demonstrated experience improving processes, controls and reporting frameworks.
n
- Strong Excel skills and strong attention to detail.
n
n
What's on offer
n
n
- Career progression: Role exists due to internal promotion – transparent development pathways within a large finance team (~40+ professionals).
n
- Growth environment: PE‐backed business with strong revenue and an ambitious growth agenda.
n
- Exposure & impact: Regular interaction with the Finance Manager and Financial Controller on strategic projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
n
- Hybrid working: 1–2 days per week working from home.
n
- Supportive culture: Values‐driven, collaborative team environment with leaders who invest in your development.
n
- Modern CBD office: Convenient Brisbane City location close to public transport, cafes and amenities.
