Job Description
Cyber Security engineer Our Client is a renewable energy and development company who are seeking a highly experienced cyber security professional to lead the design, build, and implementation of an external SOC capability delivered via a Managed Security Services Provider (MSSP). This role is ideal for someone who has built SOC functions before and can translate security strategy into a well-architected, operational detection and response capability across IT and OT environments.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the design, engagement, and implementation of an external SOC service
n
- Define SOC architecture, onboarding strategy, and detection capability
n
- Identify, prioritise, and onboard log sources into the SIEM (IT & OT/SCADA)
n
- Develop detection use cases, playbooks, and incident response procedures
n
- Drive SOC effectiveness by refining monitoring, tuning alerts, and reducing false positives
n
- Act as primary technical contact for SOC incidents and escalations
n
- Lead incident triage, containment, and response coordination
n
- Define KPIs and report on SOC performance and maturity uplift
n
- Support security assessments and implement remediation actions
n
- Ensure compliance with incident reporting and regulatory requirements
n
- Comfortable working 4 Days onsite

Skills & Experience
n
n
- 5+ years' experience designing, building, and implementing SOC & SIEM capabilities
n
- Robust background working with external/MSSP SOC models
n
- Proven experience delivering SOC solutions in live critical infrastructure (IT & OT/SCADA) environments
n
- Strong cyber security engineering and security architecture capability
n
- Experience with firewall design and security controls (mainstream vendors)
n
- Strong detection engineering and incident management expertise
n
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
n
n
Desirable
n
Energy or other critical infrastructure sector experience.
n
