Due to continued growth, we are looking for an Electrical Estimator / Project Coordinator to join our team and support projects from initial enquiry and estimating through to procurement, delivery and close‑out.
The Opportunity
This is a varied role combining electrical estimating, project coordination and commercial support.
You will work closely with our engineering, project, sales and field teams to scope and estimate new work, prepare quotations, coordinate awarded projects and ensure the commercial and administrative side of each project is properly managed.
The position would suit an experienced electrical estimator, project coordinator, electrician, electrical supervisor or engineer who understands how electrical projects are actually delivered and wants to take greater ownership of projects from tender through to completion.
This is not purely a desk‑based estimating role. You will have the opportunity to attend client sites, review project requirements, assist with developing solutions and remain involved once the project is awarded.
Key Responsibilities
Review client enquiries, drawings, specifications and scopes of work
Develop drawings, specifications and scopes of work
Conduct site inspections and assist with developing project scopes
Prepare detailed estimates for labour, materials, equipment and subcontractors
Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations
Prepare professional quotations, proposals and tender submissions
Develop bills of quantities and material take‑offs
Identify exclusions, assumptions, risks and potential variations
Maintain estimating records and follow up outstanding quotations
Assist with tender clarifications and client negotiations
Complete project handover from estimating to delivery following award
Project Coordination
Support Project Managers with the planning and delivery of electrical projects
Coordinate labour, materials, suppliers, subcontractors and equipment
Prepare and maintain procurement schedules and material orders
Review drawings, specifications and technical documentation
Prepare and track RFIs, variations and project correspondence
Monitor project costs, labour hours and progress against estimate
Assist with project scheduling and resource planning
Coordinate site requirements with clients and field teams
Attend client, project and site meetings where required
Assist with commercial documentation including safety documentation
Maintain accurate project records throughout delivery
Project Close‑Out
Coordinate testing, commissioning and completion requirements
Assist with defects and outstanding works
Coordinate as‑built drawings and project documentation
Prepare handover packages, test results and O&M; documentation
Ensure projects are commercially and administratively closed out correctly
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
Experience within the electrical contracting, engineering in the industrial industrial sector
Strong understanding of electrical installations and construction methods
Previous electrical estimating and/or project coordination experience
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings,
specifications and technical documentation
Strong understanding of labour and material requirements associated with industrial control and electrical projects
Good commercial awareness and an understanding of project costs and margins
Strong Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook skills
Strong organisation and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple estimates and projects simultaneously
Confidence communicating with clients, engineers, suppliers, subcontractors and field personnel
A proactive, solutions‑focused approach
The ability to take ownership and follow tasks through to completion
An electrical trade background, engineering qualification would be highly regarded but is not essential for the right candidate with strong industry experience.
Experience with industrial electrical systems, PLC/automation projects, instrumentation, hazardous areas, switchboards or industrial construction would also be highly regarded.
