Job Description

- Initial contract to 30 June 2025 + 12 month extension option

- Brisbane CBD + Hybrid Working (Up to 3 Days WFH)

We are seeking an experienced Advisor – Right to Information to join a Queensland Government team on a 4-month contract, commencing as soon as possible.

n

This role will see you managing a complex caseload of access and amendment applications under the Right to Information Act 2009 (Qld), ensuring compliance with statutory obligations and prescribed timeframes. You will provide high-level advice on legislative interpretation, administrative decision-making and disclosure requirements, supporting transparent and accountable public sector practices.

Key Responsibilities

n

n
- Process complex RTI access and amendment applications in accordance with statutory requirements
n
- Draft detailed decision notices and prepare submissions for matters under external review
n
- Provide accurate and timely advice to internal and external stakeholders regarding legislative obligations and compliance
n
- Interpret and apply legislation,



subordinate instruments and relevant case law
n
- Conduct research on statutory interpretation and emerging RTI best practice
n
- Liaise with business units to identify, review, collate and appropriately redact responsive documentation
n
- Maintain legislative records and contribute to publication scheme and disclosure log requirements
n
- Provide explicit, concise and well-reasoned written materials tailored to varied audiences
n

To be successful, you will demonstrate:

n

n
- Proven experience processing RTI applications within a government or statutory environment
n
- Strong understanding of statutory interpretation principles and administrative decision-making
n
- Advanced drafting capability, including complex notices, briefs and formal correspondence
n
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
n
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to exercise sound judgement
n
- Effective stakeholder engagement and case management capability
n
