About the Prospect:

We are seeking an experienced, proactive Media Adviser for an initial 6-month contract with a major South Australian essential service provider located in the heart of Adelaide CBD. Reporting to Manager Media Relations, this role will be working within a collaborative Communications and Community Engagement division, and will play a key role in protecting and enhancing organisational reputation by identifying engaging stories, managing issues, and delivering impactful media strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

- Proactively identify news angles, draft media releases, talking points, speeches, backgrounders, and scripts.
- Provide strategic communications advice to senior leaders and prepare spokespeople for interviews.
- Respond to inbound media inquiries, monitor media coverage, and assist in managing emerging issues.
- Support announcements and media events, collaborating effectively with ministerial liaison teams.
- Participate in a rotating on-call media roster for out-of-hours coverage as required.

Skills & Experience Required:

- 4–5+ years of proven experience in journalism, media relations, or corporate public relations.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and content generation skills across multiple platforms under tight deadlines.




- Strong interpersonal skills with confidence in advising and influencing diverse stakeholders.
- Sound understanding of the South Australian media and political landscape (highly desirable).
- Tertiary qualification in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, or a related discipline.
