This is a key leadership position responsible for driving safety culture, operational excellence and workforce capability across site. Reporting directly to the Project Manager / Site Senior Executive, you'll provide strategic and operational leadership across Health, Safety, Environment and Quality functions while partnering closely with site leadership teams to support safe and productive mining operations.

The successful candidate will inherit a well-established operation and have the opportunity to influence site-wide HSEQ strategy, develop high-performing teams and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the business.

About the Role:
n
n
- Lead the site's Health, Safety, Environment and Quality function.
n
- Develop and implement strategic HSEQ initiatives that support operational performance and legislative compliance.
n
- Drive a proactive safety-first culture across all operational teams.
n
- Provide expert advice and support to senior leadership on HSEQ matters.
n
- Lead incident investigations, risk management processes and critical control programs.
n
- Develop and oversee health monitoring, fatigue management and workforce wellbeing initiatives.
n
- Manage internal audit and compliance programs in accordance with Queensland coal mining legislation.
n
- Mentor and develop HSEQ personnel while supporting broader leadership development across site.
n
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across safety, training and operational performance.
n
- Manage HSEQ reporting, budgets and project performance metrics.
n

About You:
n
n
- Tertiary qualifications in Workplace Health and Safety or a related discipline.
n
- Minimum 5 years' experience in mining or heavy industry HSEQ leadership roles.
n
- Demonstrated experience leading safety and compliance functions within coal mining, mining or large-scale civil operations.
n
- Strong knowledge of Queensland Coal Mining Safety and Health legislation and associated regulations.
n
- ICAM Lead Incident Investigation certification.
n
- RIIRIS601 – Establish and Maintain Risk Management Systems.
n
- RIIWHS601 – Establish and Maintain WHS Management Systems.
n
- S1, S2, S3 and G2 Supervisor competencies.
n
- Strong leadership, stakeholder engagement and coaching capabilities.
n
- A genuine passion for developing people and driving positive safety outcomes.
