Sheet Metal Worker (Full-Time) - Metal Air

Metal Air is an Australian HVAC manufacturing and sheet metal fabrication company specialising in the design, fabrication, and installation of air conditioning ductwork and related sheet metal products for commercial and industrial construction projects.

We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Sheet Metal Worker to join our team on a full‑time basis. This role is suited to a qualified tradesperson with strong experience in sheet metal fabrication and HVAC duct installation, working across workshop and construction site environments.

The role involves marking out, shaping, forming, assembling, and installing sheet metal products in accordance with technical drawings and project specifications.

Key Responsibilities

- Study and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine job requirements
- Select sheet metal materials (steel, galvanised iron, aluminium, stainless steel) based on project specifications
- Mark out metal stock using templates, gauges, and measuring instruments
- Cut sheet metal using hand tools, power shears, guillotines, and cutting machines




- Shape and form sheet metal using folding, bending, rolling, and pressing machines
- Assemble components by welding, riveting, soldering, brazing, and other joining techniques
- Install HVAC ductwork and sheet metal systems on commercial and industrial sites
- Fit and adjust ducting components to ensure correct alignment and system performance
- Repair, modify, and maintain existing sheet metal and duct systems where required
- Ensure all work complies with Australian Standards and workplace safety requirements
- Work collaboratively with supervisors, engineers, and other trades on project delivery

What We're Looking For

- Relevant trade qualification (Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade or equivalent)
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience as a Sheet Metal Worker
- Strong experience in HVAC duct fabrication and installation (essential)
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and fabrication plans
- Skilled in use of sheet metal machinery, hand tools, and fabrication equipment
- Experience in workshop fabrication and on‑site installation work
- Strong understanding of WHS and construction site safety practices
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Physically fit and able to perform manual trade work in varying conditions
- High attention to detail and quality workmanship
