About the Job

Newline, a market-leading specialty insurance group operating in over 80 countries, is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Underwriter to join our Liability team in a senior capacity. This is your prospect to work with a global specialty insurance group, build strong broker relationships, and underwrite complex risks across a diverse portfolio of public and products liability, life sciences and clinical trials insurance. You'll play a key role in shaping our underwriting strategy and delivering exceptional service to our clients. This is a full-time, permanent position based in Melbourne. We offer a trusted, flexible work environment — most of our team works in a hybrid style tailored to their role, team, and clients.

Make Your Mark in Liability

You'll work closely with internal teams to ensure seamless post-underwriting management and contribute to the development of new products and wordings. Our goal is to empower our people to grow as insurance professionals and deliver exceptional value to our clients.

How You Will Create an Impact?

n

Reporting to the Head of Liability, you'll underwrite new and renewal business within your authority, maintain and grow broker relationships, and represent Newline at market events. You'll also contribute mentoring junior team members and support continuous improvement across the team.

Key Accountabilities will include:

n

- Underwriting risks within defined appetite and authority
n
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation
n
- Collaborating with claims and internal teams
n
- Developing and tailoring policy wordings
n
- Representing Newline at broker and client meetings
n
- Supporting training and development of junior colleagues
n
- Interstate travel and attendance at insurance conferences
n

n

What You'll Need to Succeed

n

n




- Minimum 5 years' experience in liability underwriting
n
- Strong technical knowledge of liability insurance products
n
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills
n
- A collaborative, detail-oriented, and self-motivated approach
n
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
n
