Lions Outback Vision (LOV) was established in 2010 with the support of Lions Eye Institute and the University of Western Australia. We are a small but dedicated team of eye health professionals that are firmly committed to improving the eye health of rural, remote and Indigenous West Australians.

The Opportunity The role will work in collaboration with the LOV team in Broome, under the direction of the Practice Manager Broome, to support and facilitate the attendance of Aboriginal patients at appointments in Broome and the Kimberley (as required) resulting in better eye health outcomes for Aboriginal people.

Key responsibilities include:

- Coordinate patient transport for patients at the Broome Hub.
- Pick up and drop off patients for LOV related services in Broome.
- Assist with patient transport to collect medications from pharmacy.
- Liaise with Aboriginal Medical Services, optometrists, local health teams, ophthalmologists and other health care professionals to coordinate the planning and scheduling of patient appointments to assure timely delivery of services for Aboriginal patients in all areas of Lions Outback Vision operations.
- Supporting the coordination of logistical support for Aboriginal patients attending clinical appointments, assisting in answering any questions concerning appointments, and communicating with other health care professionals to ensure follow up appointments are booked.
- General administrative tasks

Essential Criteria:

- Identifies as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander




- Current working with Children check and National Police check less than 6 months old.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to manage client records.
- Be great at building respectful and trusting relationships.
- Valid WA C or CA Class driver’s license

Desirable Criteria:

- Knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health issues and some of the barriers to support.
- A desire to support better outcomes for Aboriginal health.
- Previous experience in an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander support role.
