The Opportunity

We're hiring an AI Systems Developer to join a fast-growing Australian fintech that's building its entire AI capability in-house, from the ground up.

This is a rare chance to shape an AI-native product architecture from day one, rather than retrofitting AI onto a legacy stack. The business processes significant transaction volumes for customers across Australia and is investing heavily in AI as its next major growth lever, under experienced fintech leadership with a track record of scaling data and AI capability at some of the country's best-known payments businesses.

This is a full-ownership role, not a build-and-hand-off position. You'll own uptime, latency, and cost for whatever AI capability ships, architecting the agent suite and RAG pipeline end to end rather than integrating on top of an existing managed platform.

What You'll Be Working On

- Designing and building production-grade agentic AI systems, RAG pipelines, and model serving infrastructure
- Refactoring the company's Ruby on Rails core so AI agents can safely ship changes into it, with proper guardrails, rollback paths, and blast-radius containment around payment-critical flows
- Owning incident response, observability,



and reliability for everything you ship
- Working with real architectural autonomy, shaping technical direction rather than just executing tickets

Tech Environment

- Backend: Ruby on Rails
- AI/ML: Agentic AI frameworks, RAG, vector databases, model serving
- Cloud & Infrastructure: AWS, Terraform

What We're Looking For

- Robust, recent Ruby on Rails experience
- Hands-on experience building and shipping production agentic AI systems, not just prototypes, using tools like LangChain, LangGraph, vector databases, or similar
- Solid AWS and infrastructure-as-code experience, Terraform preferred
- A track record of owning systems end to end, including incident response under real business consequences
- Genuine enthusiasm for architecting AI capability from scratch, rather than working within an existing framework
