Junee Quality Meats is seeking an Apprentice Butcher to join our team on a full-time basis in Junee, NSW. This is an excellent opportunity to begin your career in the butchery trade, working alongside experienced professionals in a respected, established business. As an Apprentice Butcher, you will develop practical skills in meat preparation, processing, and customer service whilst gaining valuable industry experience under the guidance of our skilled team.
What you'll be doing
- Learning and practising fundamental butchery techniques including boning, trimming, and portion control
- Preparing and processing various cuts of meat to meet quality and safety standards
- Assisting with the maintenance of butchery equipment and ensuring all tools are kept sharp and hygienic
- Supporting the packaging and labelling of meat products for retail display
- Providing excellent customer service and advice on meat selection and preparation
- Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the butchery workspace
- Following all food safety and health regulations to ensure compliance
- Assisting with stock rotation and inventory management
What we're looking for
- A genuine interest in learning the butchery trade and developing a career in this field
- A solid work ethic with a willingness to take on tasks and learn new skills
- Physical fitness and the ability to perform repetitive tasks and stand for extended periods
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and food safety
- Good communication skills and a friendly, customer-focused approach
- Ability to work as part of a team and take direction from experienced staff members
- A valid driver's licence is advantageous
- Relevant Trade School Certificate or willingness to undertake the required training during your apprenticeship
- A commitment to completing a formal butchery apprenticeship programme
