Pay: Competitive award rate plus uplift An exciting opportunity is available for two experienced Asphalt Screed Hands to join a new and growing road construction business based in Perth.
This is a hands-on roadworks position for candidates with strong asphalt paving experience who can work confidently alongside the Paver Operator, Asphalt Supervisor and ground crew.
You will be responsible for controlling asphalt depth, width, levels and surface finish during paving operations. The successful candidates must understand how screed adjustments affect the quality of the finished surface and be able to respond quickly to changing site conditions.
You must be practical, reliable and comfortable supporting a developing business. You will play an important role in establishing safe and efficient paving operations while maintaining high standards of workmanship.
Experience working with Vögele asphalt pavers, particularly the Super 800, Super 1303 and Super 1803 models, will be highly regarded. There is also potential for future growth and incentives as the business expands.
Requirements
• Set up and operate screed controls during asphalt paving operations.
- Control asphalt depth, width, levels, crossfall and surface finish.
- Adjust screed settings according to project specifications and changing site conditions.
- Monitor asphalt flow, temperature and consistency during paving.
- Check joints, edges, levels and completed surfaces for quality.
- Work closely with the Paver Operator to maintain a consistent paving speed and finish.
- Coordinate with the Asphalt Supervisor and ground crew throughout paving operations.
- Complete daily pre-start inspections and equipment safety checks.
- Identify and report equipment faults, quality concerns or maintenance requirements.
- Assist with detailed handwork, asphalt finishing and other crew duties when required.
- Maintain a clean and safe working area.
- Follow all workplace health and safety procedures.
- Work night shifts, weekends and away from home when required.
