Our client is a well-established, values-led not-for-profit community services organisation based in Brisbane, delivering health and community services to a large and diverse workforce. As the organisation continues to grow, they are seeking an experienced payroll professional to join their finance team in a senior, hands-on capacity.

The Role

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Senior Payroll Officer is responsible for delivering accurate, compliant and scalable end-to-end payroll operations across the organisation. This is a senior role, and while it has no direct reports, you’ll be relied on as the technical payroll expert, providing guidance, quality review and training to finance and administrative staff involved in payroll processes.

You’ll work closely with Finance, People & Culture, managers, employees and external providers to ensure staff are paid accurately and on time, payroll risk is well managed, records are audit-ready, and processes continue to mature as the organisation scales.

Key Responsibilities

- Coordinate and process end-to-end fortnightly payroll (500 employees), including timesheets, allowances, leave, higher duties, deductions, commencements and terminations
- Interpret and apply multiple awards, enterprise agreements and employment contracts to ensure accurate, compliant payroll processing
- Calculate, reconcile and process superannuation guarantee contributions in line with ATO requirements
- Administer and reconcile PAYG, salary sacrifice benefits,

Workcover and child support obligations
- Prepare and distribute payroll, leave liability, FBT, EOY wage reconciliation and STP reporting
- Maintain strong payroll governance (controls, reconciliations, audit trails and corrective actions from audit findings)

About You

- Demonstrated experience in end-to-end payroll for a medium-to-large or complex workforce
- Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying multiple awards, enterprise agreements, allowances, overtime, leave, salary packaging, superannuation and termination payments
- Knowledge of payroll legislation, taxation, superannuation, Single Touch Payroll and related compliance requirements
- Ability to manage competing priorities and escalate sensitive or high-risk matters appropriately
- Proficient with ERP systems.

This is an opportunity to bring your payroll expertise into a senior, high-trust role within a purpose-driven organisation - one where accuracy, integrity and discretion genuinely matter, and where you’ll have real scope to shape and improve payroll processes as the organisation grows.

What's on Offer

- Hybrid working environment with two days work from home
- Free parking and convenient location (Murarrie)
- Supportive and collaborative team environment
- Market-competitive salary on offer plus salary sacrifice benefits
- Opportunity to gain valuable experience within a well-established organisation
