Fitness Edge is looking for an experienced and capable Assistant Fitness Centre Manager to help lead the day-to-day operations of our Fitness Centre and support our Swim School operations.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys being part of the action but also sees the bigger picture.

We are looking for someone who can bring structure, consistency and follow-through to daily operations. You'll help establish clear routines, workflows and accountabilities so our team knows what needs to happen, who owns it and how we make sure it gets done.

Working closely with the Centre Manager, you'll provide visible leadership to our team, support a great member experience and help ensure our Fitness Centre and Swim School operate safely, efficiently and consistently.

What you'll be doing

You'll have a broad operational and leadership remit, including:

- Overseeing day-to-day Fitness Centre operations and supporting Swim School operations
- Building and maintaining practical daily and weekly operating routines, workflows, handovers and task allocation
- Creating greater consistency and accountability across day-to-day operations
- Providing visible leadership, direction and support to Fitness Centre and Swim School staff
- Identifying operational gaps and implementing practical solutions rather than simply working around them
- Supporting rostering, shift coverage and timesheet processes
- Responding promptly and professionally to member enquiries, feedback and complaints
- Maintaining strong knowledge of our operating and membership systems and supporting staff with troubleshooting
- Ensuring incidents, hazards and maintenance issues are reported accurately and promptly through our ERM system
- Following up reported issues, escalating where required and ensuring actions are taken through to closure
- Ensuring daily WHS and operational checks are completed accurately




- Coordinating maintenance requests and following up outstanding work
- Overseeing pool water testing and associated documentation
- Supporting pool plant maintenance management and secure facility operations
- Inducting, coaching and developing team members
- Supporting the Centre Manager and acting in the role when required

The person we're looking for You don't need to be someone who wants to sit behind a desk managing the operation from a distance.

We're looking for a leader who is visible, organised and practical. Someone who can work alongside the team, recognise when something isn't working and then put a sensible process around it.

You'll be comfortable creating structure where it is needed and, importantly, helping people adopt that structure.

You'll bring

- Certificate IV in Fitness and current Fitness Australia/FITREC registration
- Current First Aid qualification
- Current Working with Children Check
- At least five years' experience in the fitness industry
- Demonstrated leadership experience
- Solid organisational and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement practical operational systems, routines and procedures
- The ability to create accountability and follow through on actions
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Sound knowledge of gym operations and fitness programming
- Experience with pool water testing and an understanding of pool plant systems

Experience in Swim School or aquatic operations, membership systems, WHS systems, contractor management or SOP development would be highly regarded.
