About the Role
We are looking for an Assistant Project Manager to join our project management team in Sydney. This is a outstanding opportunity for someone with a construction, engineering, architecture or project management background who is looking to develop their career and gain broader exposure across the full project lifecycle.
Working closely with the Project Manager and wider project team, you will support the successful delivery of construction, refurbishment and fit-out projects from planning and design through to construction, completion and handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Project Manager with the end-to-end delivery of construction projects.
- Support project planning, programming, budgeting and cost management.
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers and other stakeholders.
- Assist with design coordination and review of project documentation.
- Support the preparation of project programmes and monitor progress against key milestones.
- Assist with tendering, procurement and contractor/subcontractor appointments.
- Assist with contract administration, variations, payment claims and commercial matters.
- Maintain project risk, issue and action registers and follow up on outstanding items.
- Attend project meetings, prepare agendas and minutes, and track actions.
- Prepare project status reports, cost reports and other client reporting.
- Assist with site inspections and monitor construction progress, quality and safety requirements.
- Support the management of project changes and ensure appropriate approvals are obtained.
- Assist with stakeholder communication and maintain positive client relationships.
- Support project close-out, defects, documentation, handover and final completion.
- Identify potential project risks and assist in developing appropriate mitigation strategies.
About You
- Degree or relevant qualification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Project Management, Architecture, Building or a related discipline.
- Ideally 2–5 years' experience within construction, project management, consultancy or a related environment.
- Experience working on construction, refurbishment, fit-out or property projects.
- Positive understanding of the construction project lifecycle.
- Some experience with project programming, cost management, procurement and contract administration.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Good attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work to deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel and Microsoft Project; Primavera P6 would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of Australian construction practices, WHS requirements and relevant standards is desirable.
