Role Description The Automation Engineer role is a part time, remote position focused on supporting and enhancing educational content related to automation, robotics, and process control. Day-to-day tasks include designing and testing automated workflows, reviewing and optimizing control systems, and providing technical input on electrical and automation concepts featured in training materials.
The Automation
Engineer may collaborate with content creators to ensure technical accuracy, develop example projects or simulations, and help troubleshoot automation-related issues that arise during content development. This role also involves documenting best practices, proposing improvements to teaching demonstrations, and staying current with relevant automation and robotics technologies to inform new learning modules.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Automation and Robotics, with practical experience applying these technologies in engineering or industrial environments.
- Proficiency in Electrical Engineering concepts and Process Control,
including basic circuit theory, sensors, actuators, and control system design.
- Demonstrated Troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving issues in automated systems, control loops, and hardware/software integrations.
- Ability to translate complex technical topics into clear, educational explanations suitable for learners at different levels.
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM/CAE tools and interest in engineering education or technical training content creation.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate remotely and manage part-time, flexible work hours.
- Bachelor’s degree or ongoing studies in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, Robotics, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Experience with industrial controllers (PLC, PAC), scripting or programming for automation, and safety standards in automated systems is an advantage.
