About the role

We are seeking an experienced Automotive Spray Painter to join the team at Underwood Smash NSW Pty Ltd. This is a full-time position based in Botany, NSW. As an Automotive Spray Painter, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality paint finishes to vehicles, ensuring every project meets our exacting standards. Your expertise will be fundamental to maintaining our reputation for excellence in the automotive repair and refinishing industry.

Key responsibilities

- Prepare vehicle surfaces through sanding, grinding, and cleaning to ensure optimal paint adhesion
- Mix paint formulations to exact specifications, matching colours and finishes accurately
- Apply primer, base coat, and clear coat finishes using spray equipment to achieve skilled, durable results
- Inspect painted surfaces for quality and consistency, addressing any imperfections or defects
- Maintain and calibrate spray equipment to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards
- Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations, including proper handling of hazardous materials
- Document work completed and maintain accurate records of paint specifications and materials used
- Collaborate with workshop staff to ensure efficient workflow and timely project completion
- Perform touch-ups and repairs to existing paint work as required

What we're looking for

- Certificate III or IV in Automotive Spray Painting or equivalent recognised qualification
- Minimum 3-5 years' hands-on experience as an automotive spray painter
- Proven expertise in surface preparation and application of various paint systems
- Strong knowledge of colour matching techniques and paint chemistry
- Competency with spray equipment,



including HVLP systems and conventional spray guns
- Understanding of safety protocols and environmental regulations relating to paint application
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering flawless finishes
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Current driver's licence is beneficial
- Physical fitness to handle standing for extended periods and working in various positions
