Executive Assistant to the General Counsel

This advertisement is for one ongoing vacancy at the APS Level 5 classification.

The Executive Assistant provides high-quality executive support to the General Counsel (Deputy Commissioner, Legal and Assurance). The role is responsible for managing a range of strategic, confidential and time-sensitive matters while balancing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities include proactively managing the General Counsel's diary and workflow, coordinating correspondence and meetings, and liaising with senior internal and external stakeholders. The role also provides administrative and operational support for projects, reporting activities and other initiatives led by the General Counsel, helping to ensure efficient and effective business outcomes.

The key duties of the position include:

- Provide high level strategic executive support to the General Counsel by ensuring the effective management of work demands and workflow. This includes management of correspondence, enquiries, diary and meeting coordination and travel.
- Preparation of written correspondence, and coordination of briefs and papers in line with quality and organisational requirements.
- Actively participate as a member of the executive assistant network to ensure consistency of practice across executive offices.
- Confidentially handle sensitive material and information, maintain confidentiality and discretion, and model ethical behaviour and practices consistent with the APS Code of Conduct and APS Values.

Eligibility

- Has a positive and contemporary attitude to people with disability.




- Has highly developed organisational skills with the ability to flexibly change priorities, manage competing demands and statutory deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and proactively identify and address needs of their executive in strategically managing their day-to-day and longer-term priorities, particularly regarding meetings and appointment preparation.
- Excellent communication skills and strong analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail and the to produce quality briefs, reports, and correspondence of a complex nature.
