The location and Lifestyle:
Mt Carbine has a rich history of tungsten production and is strategically and conveniently located only 75 kms from the beautiful seaside town of Port Douglas in Far North Queensland where the Daintree Forest meets the Great Barrier Reef. The Mt Carbine Tungsten mine is 120km North of Cairns International Airport via sealed highway. Neighbouring the Mt Carbine township on the Mulligan Highway, The Mt Carbine Tungsten Mine is central to Mossman, Port Douglas, Mareeba, Julatten and Mt Molloy.
For those with families, there is a choice of private and public schools, as well as universities and technical education facilities in the region.
About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Laboratory Technician, this role will be responsible for the preparation and testing of samples. The prime responsibility of this role is to perform and maintain the required quality standards during the daily operational activities of the testing laboratory using safe and productive work methods.
Key Responsibilities:
- Daily collection, preparation and testing of production and drill samples
- Equipment safety checks and maintenance
- Laboratory safety and housekeeping
- Sample registration and data entry using LIMs software.
- Quality control checks of laboratory procedures.
- Sample analysis using a XRF spectrometer
- Other laboratory tasks as required.
Key Selection Criteria:
- Previous experience as a Laboratory Technician preferred but not essential
- Self motivated with excellent problem solving skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of the Company
- Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability
- Highly organized with strongtime management and communications skillsto manage competing and/or changing priorities
- Systems savvy and comfortable with technology, particularlyexperienced with MS office (intermediate), while able to adapt and be flexible with the changing needs of the Company
