Our client is one of Australia’s largest producers of high-quality sauces, currently based in Marrickville, NSW, and we are seeking an ambitious and experienced Maintenance Fitter to join their team.
You will be a hardworking and proactive problem solver who understands the importance of keeping day-to-day operations running efficiently. You will be responsible for preventative maintenance, responding to unplanned breakdowns, completing programmed maintenance, and contributing to projects aimed at improving equipment reliability, efficiency and utilisation.
Current Location: Marrickville, NSW
Future Location: Villawood, NSW
Key: The site is planned to relocate from Marrickville to Villawood. The successful candidate must be willing and able to work at the Villawood site once the relocation is officially completed.
The Role
- Monday to Friday – Full-time hours (6am Start)
- Overtime flexibility required
- Some weekend work may be required (regular but voluntary overtime)
- Temp-to-perm opportunity
- Weekly pay
- Must hold a current Connect/Disconnect (Electrical Disconnect/Reconnect) licence, or be willing to obtain one
Responsibilities
- Execute the daily maintenance program using the preventive maintenance system (MEX)
- Troubleshoot and attend to breakdowns involving pumps, machinery and mechanical components
- Coordinate and manage contractors on site for boilers, air compressors and cool rooms/refrigeration systems
- Assist with parts ordering and inventory management
- Maintain the engineering store, spare parts and workshop
- Participate in continuous improvement and equipment efficiency projects
- Support the production team with maintenance and safety-related issues
- Support warehouse maintenance, including sensors, lighting and related equipment
- Assist with maintaining equipment to optimum operating standards
Requirements
- Fitter qualification preferred
- Previous food manufacturing experience is highly desirable
- Experience working with comparable manufacturing equipment
- Current Disconnect/Reconnect certification or willingness to obtain one
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Flexibility to stay back when required, with overtime opportunities available
- Willingness to work at the future Villawood site following the relocation
