Role DescriptionThe BI Engineer will design, develop, maintain, and optimize business intelligence solutions that transform organizational data into reliable, accessible, and actionable information. The role focuses on data integration, reporting infrastructure, analytics platforms, data modeling, dashboards, and automated business intelligence processes.

Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining data pipelines, integrating information from multiple business systems, and preparing structured datasets for reporting and analytical use. The role will work with databases, data warehouses, APIs, cloud platforms, and other data sources to ensure information is collected and processed efficiently.

The position will design and maintain data models, analytical datasets, reporting structures, and business intelligence environments. Responsibilities may include developing ETL/ELT workflows, optimizing queries, improving data processing performance, and ensuring data is properly organized for business reporting and analysis.

The BI Engineer will collaborate with analysts, data scientists, software engineers, business stakeholders, and other teams to understand reporting requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions. The role may support the development of dashboards, automated reports, KPI monitoring systems, and self-service analytics tools.

Additional responsibilities include monitoring data pipelines and BI systems, investigating data discrepancies, improving data quality, maintaining technical documentation, and implementing appropriate data security and access controls.



The role may also contribute to data governance, reporting automation, cloud migration, and business intelligence platform improvements.

The successful candidate should have strong technical and analytical abilities, a structured approach to data engineering, and an understanding of how business data can support decision-making. Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly are essential.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree, diploma, or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, Computer Engineering, Statistics, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of business intelligence concepts, data warehousing, data integration, reporting, analytics, and data modeling.
- Strong SQL skills with an understanding of queries, joins, aggregations, indexing, stored procedures, and query optimization.
- Familiarity with BI platforms such as Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, Looker, Qlik, or equivalent technologies.
- Understanding of ETL/ELT processes and data pipeline development.
- Familiarity with relational databases such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, or equivalent platforms.




- Understanding of dimensional modeling, star schemas, fact tables, dimension tables, and analytical data structures.
- Familiarity with cloud data platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud is advantageous.
- Understanding of data warehouse and data lake concepts.
- Familiarity with Python, Java, Scala, or another programming language used for data processing is advantageous.
- Understanding of APIs, data integration, JSON, CSV, and other common data exchange formats.
- Ability to develop, maintain, and troubleshoot automated data pipelines and reporting workflows.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate data issues and identify technical root causes.
- Strong attention to detail when working with data models, transformation logic, reports, dashboards, and business rules.
- Understanding of data quality, data governance, access controls, and responsible data-management principles.
- Ability to translate business requirements into scalable and maintainable technical BI solutions.
- Strong documentation and communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to business and technical stakeholders.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with data analysts, engineers, developers, data scientists, and business teams.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple BI projects, priorities, and deadlines.
- Proactive mindset with a robust interest in automation, data architecture, performance optimization, and continuous improvement.
