Role Description The BMS Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Port Melbourne, VIC, responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Building Management Systems (BMS). Day-to-day tasks include configuring and testing controllers and field devices, performing system diagnostics, and ensuring optimal performance of automation systems. The role involves interpreting engineering drawings and specifications, supporting upgrades and retrofits, and documenting work in line with company standards.
The BMS Technician will collaborate with engineers, project managers, and clients to ensure solutions are delivered safely, efficiently,
and in accordance with regulatory and quality requirements.
Qualifications
- Strong technical skills in BMS installation, commissioning, and maintenance, including controllers, sensors, and field devices.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, control diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
- Experience with fault-finding, diagnostics, and troubleshooting for building automation or HVAC control systems.
- Knowledge of networked control systems, basic IT/network concepts, and BMS software interfaces.
- Understanding of relevant electrical and mechanical standards, safety practices, and compliance requirements.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with engineers, contractors, and clients.
- Good organizational skills, including time management, documentation, and attention to detail.
- Trade qualification or certification in electrical, mechanical, mechatronics, or a related discipline; BMS-specific training is highly regarded.
- Previous experience in building services, building automation, or HVAC industries is advantageous.
- Current driver’s license and the ability to work in office across client locations as required.
